iSYS

Interventional Systems (iSYS Medizintechnik GmbH) is a medical device company developing innovative B2B and OEM robotic solutions for minimally invasive surgery and percutaneous interventions. Its mission is to make surgical robotics more accessible, improving patient outcomes while simplifying procedures and reducing costs.

Its flagship product, Micromate™, is the world’s first head-to-toe medical robotics platform empowering clinicians with an affordable and easy-to-use miniature robot cleared for any needle-based intervention using either 2D or 3D image guidance. The small and table-mounted robot allows full-body patient access, even within a gantry. It enables users to plan single or multi-needle interventions without angular limitations, perform automatic or joystick-controlled alignment to the planned trajectory within seconds, and select their preferred instruments and workflows. Thanks to its unique features, Micromate™ promotes consistent and repeatable accuracy while reducing procedural times and radiation exposure for both the user and the patient.

Interventional Systems operates an in-house manufacturing facility, providing substantial control over production, intellectual property, and the supply chain while maintaining ISO 13485 certification and adhering to the highest safety and quality standards.

The company is headquartered in Kitzbühel, Austria, with offices in Austria, Germany, and Portugal.

Role in the project

Interventional Systems leads Work Package 3, focusing on advancing robotic and imaging technologies for image-guided percutaneous tumour ablations using CBCT. Our role centers on developing a new generation of portable, wireless robotic systems with autonomous needle steering, designed to integrate seamlessly into CBCT workflows. We’re also responsible for validating these innovations through lab testing and clinical collaboration, ensuring they meet safety, usability, and performance standards. By enhancing precision, workflow efficiency, and patient communication, our contributions aim to demonstrate the clear clinical and operational advantages of robotic-assisted, CBCT-guided interventions over current standard practices.
